Day 141: October 20: San Juan Island to Whidbey Island |
|
| I got the early boat to Anacortes. I stopped back by Anacortes Cyclery, where Justin helped me with a route down Whidbey Island. We mapped out a route that would take me down some fairly scenic countryside, and give me some good ocean views. The ride down Fidalgo Island was quite pleasant, with the changing leaves giving a quaint feeling to the woods. The bridges over Deception Pass were not pleasant, being very narrow. I chose to use the sidewalk, which was also narrow. Pushing the bike along with my feet rather than riding it, I made my way slowly over the bridge. |

| I spent the rest of the day riding down Whidbey Island, down to the Fort Ebey Recreation Area at Point Partridge. This start park had a beautiful hiker/biker campground, well away from the other park users. The campground was located right on a little inland lake. |

| From the campground, I could walk a short distance over to the beach. I watched the sun set over the beach and couldn't resist taking some pictures. |
